Apple will kill the iPhone X when the iPhone X Plus officially launches
Where analysts predicted that the iPhone X would steal away the revenue of its competitors and add massive percentage points to Apple’s growth, it appears that the opposite is happening. The iPhone X, while a popular product does not possess that sufficient ‘wow factor’ that will appeal to so many consumers out there. This is why according to the latest rumor, Apple is expected to kill off the iPhone X when the iPhone X Plus launches.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is not going to be reducing the price of the iPhone X when the iPhone X Plus officially launches and the reasons for that have been given below.
“iPhone X would hurt product brand value & lineup of 2H18 new models if it continues to sell at a lower price after 2H18 new models launch: Lowering iPhone X’s price after the 2H18 new models launch would be a negative to product brand value given 3D sensing and OLED display are features of the new high-price model. Additionally, to sell iPhone X at a lower price may have a negative impact on shipments of the new 6.1″ LCD iPhone in 2H18. Thus, we estimate iPhone X will reach end-of-life (EOL) around the middle of 2018.”
Reducing the price of a previous-generation product is something that Apple has done since the inception of the very first iPhone that was launched back in 2007. By reducing the price of a previous-gen iPhone, it offered a better value for consumers while allowing Apple to continue its sales speed for a higher market share.
Things are going to be different this time around, according to the rumor. Apple might be releasing a 6.1-inch edge-to-edge iPhone that sports an LCD panel and it is going to be sold at a smaller price while appealing to the masses thanks to its improved design.
Reducing the price of the iPhone X might put the 6.1-inch iPhone at risk of being sold in fewer quantities. Fortunately, even if Apple is not going to be selling it, there are retailers willing to sell off the iPhone X at a lower price tag. We will just have to be patient for this news to actually happen.
