Microsoft hiring engineers to fit Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 in future devices such as the Surface Phone

Microsoft and its hardware partner Qualcomm are working on the first devices with the Snapdragon 835 chipset. They are also working for an emulation-based full version of Windows 10 that will be running in notebooks. Right now, Microsoft is looking for employees who will help make Qualcomm’s next high-end SoC that will be fit for use with Windows. At the same time, Microsoft is also planning to build its own hardware too.

The first laptops with Snapdragon 835 and Windows 10 will be in the market next year. Recently, Microsoft gave a job ad and is looking for people to make its own device.

ABAL Technologies posted a short notice ad on the Dice.com job portal which shows that individuals to fulfill a particular task. Microsoft has been using ABAL services as a human service provider for a long time and ABAL helps Microsoft finds a lot of employees. The fact that ABAL mentioned Redmond in the ad suggests that the ad was for Microsoft. The headquarters of ABAL is on the US East Coast in the state of New Jersey.

ABAL posted an ad for a Manufacturing Engineer and a Hardware Test Engineer who will test the use of wireless technologies that are based on the next-generation Wi-Fi 802.11ax standard. The job ad mentioned the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and is codenamed SDM845.

It is no surprise that Microsoft and its partner Qualcomm is are working already on using Snapdragon 845 as the basis for a new device that will run Windows 10 on ARM-based processors. The job ad is interesting as it is specifically looking for people familiar with complex devices. The examples of Xbox and smartphones have been provided as well by other sources.

The other details are even more interesting. For instance, ABAL needs each applicant to be ready to travel to China couple of times a year to supervise the production of equipment at a plant that is called JDM1 is Suzhou. The plant JDM1, coincidentally, is a site of Pegatron, a site of the Taiwanese contract manufacturer. Pegatron makes Xbox and Surface tablets for Microsoft besides other things. The period of travel is 2-4 weeks in the next six months alone.

What Microsoft will do after the mobile phone specialist monitoring its hardware in China and working on the use of Snapdragon 845 is not exactly clear. Maybe Microsoft needs the employee for an ARM-based surface laptop, or a dual screen Windows 10 device, or a smartphone, or an Xbox.

We will see in 6 months, hopefully.
