Samsung Galaxy S10 Largest Variant To Feature Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensors On Display

Even though the Galaxy S10 won’t be launched for another six months, rumors and leaks keep piling up, shaping what the device will have in store for its fan base. While the current version of the Galaxy S lineup ships with a fingerprint sensor positioned at the back of the device, the forthcoming model is expected to change that. Now, reports for the upcoming device state that it will feature an ultrasonic ‘Fingerprint-On-Display’ sensor.

The Galaxy Note 9 from the company will support a fingerprint sensor at the back as confirmed in several separate reports. Previously, a report outlined suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will feature a virtual fingerprint recognition placed under the display. Now, as per the credible Ming-Chi Kuo, the Galaxy S10 will have more than just that.

According to the analyst, Samsung will launch three variants of the Galaxy S10 next year. The new 5.8-inch baseline model will be available at a lower price, oriented towards people who wish for features part f the flagship but are not able to pay for it. The move will come into operation as the company celebrates its ten year anniversary next year.

The remaining two variants boasts a size of 6.1 and a 6.4-inch display. Both of these devices will feature support for an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, according to Kuo. Another extension on the report suggests that the largest of the three Galaxy S10 smartphones will feature a triple lens camera setup as to differentiate them from each other.

The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor placed on the display or FOD (Fingerprint-On-Display) will be manufactured by GIS based on the designs from Qualcomm. As for shipments, the analyst states that the company will ship more than 40 million devices next year. Majority of these shipments will be from the sale of the bigger two Galaxy S devices which boast a screen size of 6.1 and a 6.4-inch display.

In other product lineups from the company, Samsung is also said to upgrade its mid-tier Galaxy A lineup with a bunch of new sensors as well. Furthermore, deep into the year, the same features will be available on the Galaxy Note 10 along with other major and minor tweaks in terms of internals and design. This will definitely be a great addition and aspect for mainly all of Samsung smartphones as budget level smartphones would also be splashed by some of the features.
