Gboard, the popular Google keyboard gets updated to bring handwriting support, a delete feature and others
The popular virtual keyboard app from Google, Gboard, has been updated for the Android OS. The most recent batch provides some new functionality, which includes support for handwriting.
If you want to try handwriting, just select ‘Language’ settings (you can do so by long pressing the spacebar), choose the language you desire, and select handwriting as a layout. This functionality will be particularly useful for writing systems and alphabets which feature many symbols and characters. However, the layout is present for all the languages that are supported.
Some new features are also there, For instance, a fast delete feature, suggestions in the URL field, and also Hindish style support for 19 new Indian languages. Support has also been added for different languages. These include Awadhi, Bambara, Bundeli, Emilian-Romagnol, Fulani, Gilaki, Hiligaynon, Jamaican Patois, Kumaoni, Lambadi, Lombard, Madurese, Minangkabau, Mazanderani, Nahuatl, Neapolitan, Norwegian (Nynorsk), Piedmontese, Sadri, Santali (Devanagari and Bengali), Sicilian, Sylheti, Venetian, and Zazaki.
All the new additions and features will make the Gboard even a more beloved app than it originally was. The handwriting feature will make it easier to convert handwriting to text. All you need to do is to write on your smartphone and it will convert your handwriting into text. Suggestions shown in the URL field will speed up your search, as you will get suggestions when you type.
